Top 10 Best Learning Websites

Posted in Education on December 17th, 2009 by Bruce – 3 Comments

Where do you find authoritative information besides search on google?  Wikipedia.  Yes, and more?  Here is the list of top 10 best learning websites which could save you a huge amount of time to find the right answer.  By selecting the best learning websites, I have taken the following criteria:

#  Provides authoritative, in-depth and rich contents.

#  Free of charge.

#  Available with reliable and high speed server.

1. Wikipedia

Wikipedia is the best and largest free encyclopedia online, written collaboratively by its readers.  Many people are constantly improving Wikipedia, making thousands of changes per hour. You can practically find anything you want on it.

2. About

Great “trusted information source” to find things you need using its search engine. Easy to read articles written by claimed “750 experts” with helpful links.  But what is a little bit annoying is its pop up ads and sponsored links.

3. Answers

A good reference site to find answers to your doubt.  The answers on it are usually practical and short.  The negative side is too many ads and few external links(except ads links).

4. eHow

A terrific reference site where you can find answeres to “how to do just about every thing.”  Users can read how-to articles, watch videos in a wide variety of topics.  The ads on it are much less annoying because they are placed better than on About and Answers.

5. Internet Archive

A website established in 1996 to preserve websites by taking regular “snapshots”. The Wayback Machine provides older versions of websites. It would bring you a lot of fun if you check out the older interface of Facebook, Flickr and other big brothers on internet.

6. Reference

Free online encyclopedia, dictionary, thesaurus and translator as well as a web search engine. Users can find detailed infomation about famous people, places, topics and more.

7. howstuffworks:

A “delightful” reference website which explain “how everything works”.  You can find detailed and simple explanations on various topics from its articles, images and videos. Really a website worth my recommendation and your time.

8. The Free Dictionary

The Free Dictionary is an online dictionary and encyclopedia which cross references content from many trusted sources.  It has been receiving very positive feedbacks on the internet.

9. Britannica

Encyclopedia Britannica Online, featuring the complete Encyclopedia Britannica, Britannica Concise Encyclopedia, Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary & Thesaurus and more.

10. WordReference

Best online translation dictionary covering English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Portuguese, Polish, Romanian, Czech, Greek, Turkish, Chinese and more.
